We aim to raise £70,000 to allow marginalised women in Nepal to manufacture school uniforms for up to 14,000 children impacted by the August flood in the worst three affected Districts. These will be distributed free to orphaned children, at a discounted rate to other children from poor families.

Following the flood in Nepal, around 14,000 children have had their education disrupted across three Districts. As at 14th September, more than 1,200 children were recorded in temporary holding centres, while 541 were identified as separated from their parents although these are not necessarily orphaned. We need to restore normality as best we can, including by supporting these children in returning to school. If we can, we will also support vulnerable women's livelihoods in the Districts..
Through social enterprise Lily's Leaves, we train marginalised Nepalese women in six-month-long basic tailoring courses. After that, we provide small start-up grants, mentoring and materials, that allow graduates to set up their own businesses. We can potentially add women to this training who might be destitute or widowed because of the floods in affected Districts. We will place a contract for school uniforms to be distributed free to orphans or at a discount to children from poor families.
