On the 26th August 2026, Nepal was hit by flash flooding with no warning. Whilst most emergency aid targets the most affected district, Rusuwa, Pragya is seeking vital donations to reach equally affected communities in Nuwakot that are often forgotten in initial relief efforts, as well as Rusuwa.

On Wednesday 26th August, a wall of flash flooding swept through northern Nepal without warning. In seconds, the lives of entire communities were wrecked- housing and livelihoods all gone. At least 1,300 people are dead. Over 5,000 remain missing. Hundreds of thousands more have been displaced. Most emergency aid is rushing to Rasuwa, the district hit hardest. But other communities, just as devastated, risk being left behind if emergency aid is not provided.
Pragya will provide on-the-ground humanitarian aid in the districts of Nuwakot and Rasuwa. Our team is working to assess, gather and deliver necessary relief to the affected communities. Current critical needs include food, hygiene and first aid kits, blankets, torches and tents for displaced families.
