Across rural East Africa, farming families are facing more unpredictable seasons, rising temperatures, degraded soils and increasing pressure on natural resources. These challenges affect harvests, incomes and household wellbeing. Ripple Effect fights poverty by strengthening farming families in this region, with a focus on climate resilience. We work alongside smallholder farmers so they can grow more food, earn sustainable incomes, and build secure futures. We bring communities together, promoting inclusive livelihoods and the protection of natural resources for generations to come. Instead of isolated interventions, we work holistically across three connected areas: sustainable agriculture, gender and social inclusion, and enterprise development. Our approach is practical and long-term. We work with communities to build knowledge and strengthen local systems so change can continue beyond our direct participants. This includes supporting peer learning so farmers share skills with neighbours, tailoring programmes through local staff who understand context, and working alongside local leaders and government where possible to strengthen long-term support.
