Music making has many benefits and the longer children engage in it, the stronger the positive impact. However, a problem in music education nationally is the high drop-out rate after just one year of learning. Pupils don’t have the skills, motivation and confidence they need to continue with their musical journey. Moreover, disparity in income leads to a wide inequality in the musical experiences of children in the city as many families cannot afford high quality music provision.

Music Camp is designed for pupils who have just finished their 1st year of music education. It inspires them by 2 exciting days of musical learning in a new environment. The activities encourage pupils to join afterschool 'Area Bands' which run all year long & help children become better musicians, improving their learning, confidence & engagement with school. To make the camp accessible to everyone, schools are offered a highly subsidised rate and encouraged not to pass on any cost to families
