The elephant population of Zimbabwe faces multiple threats and their presence can also cause huge challenges to the populations living in their proximity. Threats to the elephants include poaching, habitat loss and fragmentation, and blocking of migratory routes and human wildlife conflict. Increasing drought has driven elephants and people into closer contact as resources are threatened and this is potentially extremely dangerous for people and also damaging for crops.

Working collaboratively with partners on the ground we will support wildlife rangers with anti-poaching measures and habitat protection in the beautiful Zambezi valley. Communities on the buffer zones of the protected areas will receive support with human/wildlife conflict mitigation, measures to protect their crops, and also support for the establishment of innovative sustainable livelihood initiatives.
