Beneficiaries
Our Deaf students have a range of additional needs, many complex. They lack an adequate stimulating outdoor space to help them feel regulated and ready to learn. They follow a bespoke curriculum, with a focus on learning outdoors in the fresh air. Many join our specialist provision after failing in mainstream education, with associated mental health difficulties and feelings of isolation, lack of identity and less developed social, communication and motor skills.
The currently unstimulating outdoor space will be transformed into a vibrant area with climbing, balance and play structures that support physical development. It will have wheelchair access, accessible seating and spaces that support social and learning experiences and mental health. This new play area will help our students to feel regulated, to learn, to thrive and to support them to reach their full potential.
