Breaking the Cycle is a £350,000 three-year prevention programme across West Lancashire. Birchwood has secured £125,000 from a philanthropist, with a further £125,000 conditional on raising £100,000 locally. Reaching the target is essential to unlock the full funding and maximise impact for people.

Beneficiaries
Vulnerable young people and adults across West Lancashire are becoming trapped in cycles of homelessness, poor mental health, exploitation, domestic abuse, antisocial behaviour and offending risk. Poverty, trauma and isolation mean many do not access help until crisis point, creating avoidable harm and repeated demand on police, housing, health and other public services.
Breaking the Cycle will provide early, trauma-informed support before problems escalate. Birchwood will use trusted outreach, one-to-one engagement, practical help, group diversion activity and rapid referral into housing, mental health, domestic abuse, employment and specialist services. Support will be tailored, persistent and coordinated with local partners across West Lancashire.
