Many elderly people experience loneliness, isolation and loss of community as their care needs increase. Shared meals are among the most important opportunities for connection, conversation and friendship and a key element of Simeon’s new building is a large dining room to bring residents together. Without appropriate furnishings, we can’t create the welcoming environment needed for communal dining, celebrations and meaningful social interaction that support wellbeing and quality of life.

With the funding requested we will furnish the new communal dining room within Simeon's care home expansion, creating a warm, homely space where residents can gather each day to share meals, conversation and companionship. The room will also host family visits, birthdays, seasonal celebrations and intergenerational activities. Particularly at Christmas, it will be the heart of the home, bringing people together around shared tables to enjoy food, friendship and a sense of belonging.
