Across Basingstoke, Reading and Oxford, many newcomer children and families feel alone, living beside their neighbours but never part of the community. We help them belong through mentoring, family support and shared events. This Christmas, every donation is doubled.

Every year, families arrive in Basingstoke, Reading and Oxford from around the world. Their children start school, but many spend their days alone, with no English and no one they know. Schools see the children and GPs see the adults, yet no service walks with the whole family through the long years it takes to belong. Children withdraw and stop making friends. Parents often lack the language, confidence or trust to ask for help

We are a community rooted, multilingual charity, so we reach families other services struggle to engage. We give each child a steady mentor for confidence, English and Maths, and friendship. We support parents and work one to one with families whose child is isolated. And we run free cooking classes, shared meals and events, from small monthly gatherings to celebrations of 150 to 200 people, that bring newcomer and settled families into the same room to meet, not live in parallel.
