SOFEA provides food, education, employability training and wellbeing programmes to vulnerable individuals and families across the Thames Valley and South Midlands. With increasing demands for food and support, we must meet our increased overheads and direct costs to ensure people’s needs are met.

Impact areas
We support communities in the lower IMD deciles where low incomes, insecure employment, inappropriate housing, isolation, loneliness and mental ill health prevail. Whilst the effects of multiple deprivation on children and older people are concerning, we target specific vulnerable groups. We address many connected social issues that cause entrenched and multi-generational disadvantage and inequality, that lead many people to experience food poverty and food insecurity.
SOFEA (re)engages disempowered young people with learning, skills development and work. Business links provide work experience, apprenticeships and employment for young people who otherwise risk futures of poor job prospects, low earnings, substance abuse and criminality, poor health and mental wellbeing. Our Felix operations distribute over 2000 tonnes of food via 134 partners and 45 community larders (with social prescribing, money & debt advice) across the Thames Valley and South Midlands.
