"Our whole world came crashing down, with INQUEST's help we tried to piece it back together." Each year we respond to over 700 families after a death in police, prison, immigration or mental health detention, or disasters such as Grenfell and Hillsborough. These deaths are often preventable and reflect systemic inequalities. They trigger complex, lengthy legal processes at a time of grieving and can impact on mental and physical ill health, financial instability, retraumatisation and isolation.

Our specialist support includes legal advice and support, guidance through the inquest and other investigation processes, referral to lawyers, workshops to support navigating inquests, health and well being, and devising coping strategies. We build solidarity and connection through thoughtfully developed and facilitated in person and online safe spaces where families can voice their experience and feelings, seek advice and secure support from the only ones who truly understand: other families.
