Girls in Kampala's informal settlements are determined to succeed. They attend school, study hard and dream of becoming nurses, journalists, engineers and teachers. Yet too many talented girls who have made it to secondary school leave before graduating because the final costs become impossible to meet. After years of hard work, they can miss out on the qualifications they've worked so hard to earn.

Girls have already done the hard work. Awamu helps them finish. We remove the practical barriers that can stop girls completing secondary school by providing school fees, learning materials, exam costs and other essentials alongside mentoring and wellbeing support. We work with each girl and her family to respond quickly when challenges arise, helping girls stay focused on learning and finish school.
