Each year we support around 1500 women to escape domestic abuse in South Liverpool. Christmas creates a crisis point with increased alcohol use, financial stress, time at home and isolation from support. This campaign will provide vital practical and emotional support ahead of the festive season.

The provision of emotional, practical and signposting support ahead of what is one of the worst times of year for domestic abuse incidents. Typically calls to helplines increase by 15% and we can see a surge in demand on our local services of up to 50%.
Alcohol abuse, financial stress, reduced access to support networks and more time at home with an abuser creates a Christmas of fear and dread - not joy and peace. By providing women and girls with additional drop-in sessions in the run up to the holidays we can offer specific signposting to resources, gifts for their children, local pre-season meet ups and an emergency escape plan.. This will ensure that they are prepared with the right tools when they have fewer opportunities to reach out.
