Across Sussex, families face poverty, poor physical or mental health, bereavement, domestic abuse, housing insecurity and isolation. Families referred to FSW often face four or five interconnected challenges that detrimentally affect family life and their children's wellbeing. Many now need support for longer, making early intervention vital before they reach crisis. During winter, rising heating costs and the added pressures of Christmas leave many families struggling even more.
Family Support Work provides practical and emotional support, advice and advocacy to families across Sussex before problems reach crisis point. Our practitioners help with paperwork, advocate with schools and services, teach cooking and life skills, and run bereavement groups, holiday and after-school clubs. Family days out, overnight weekends and caravan holidays offer respite and rest. We stay with families for as long as needed, empowering them to create lasting change and stronger futures.
