According to the Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Walking and Cycling Index, only 52% of residents thought it was safe to cycle in their local area. Nearly three-quarters said that more traffic‑free cycle paths away from roads and more protected cycle paths along roads would help them start to cycle or to cycle more. In a world of limited transport budgets, community-led projects are needed to create local solutions and encourage decision-makers to find the ways and means to make them happen.
Through a range of rural and urban community-led projects to improve active travel infrastructure, Camcycle will support local groups with our technical, communications and engagement expertise and help deliver better journeys and places for people across Cambridgeshire. This will enable more people to cycle for more of their everyday journeys, improving health and expanding opportunities.
