There are an estimated 11,516 children (aged 3-17) living/ working on the streets of Jinja, Uganda. With your support, we will provide vital, often life saving services for these children through street walks, sports & two Drop in Centres where we offer counselling, medical care and nutritious food.

Life for the 11,000+ children on Jinja’s streets is dangerous. They are abused, physically, sexually and emotionally, at risk of trafficking, imprisoned for the ‘crime’ of being homeless and often turn to drugs/ sex work to survive. They often fall sick with diseases such as malaria, typhoid or malnutrition. Many have faced serious trauma. Without the support they need to address these issues, many of these children will remain on the streets into adulthood, or even die on the streets.

Through increased street walks and sport sessions to meet children living/ working on the streets of Jinja in their own spaces, we can learn about their situations and build their trust in us. Through two Drop in Centres, we will offer these children a safe place they can turn to, where they receive food, education, counselling and medical care. These services act as a starting point for eventually supporting these children to leave the streets and begin working towards their brighter future.
