Imagine Christmas without robins, holly or mistletoe. Broadleaf woodlands shelter the wildlife and plants that shape our festive traditions. Through our Big Forest Plant 2026/27, your support will help us plant 110,000 trees, creating new vital habitats for nature for many Christmases to come.

With only 7% of Britain’s native broadleaf woodland currently in good condition, we’re facing the decline of the condition of our woodland and the treasured wildlife that depend on it for winter food and shelter. Just imagine Christmas without trees: no robins perched on frosted branches, no holly wreaths on the door, no mistletoe hanging in the hall, snowmen without arms! Without healthy woodlands, wildlife and plants that shape our traditions and define our winter landscapes could disappear.

This winter we are aiming to plant over 110,000 saplings. All planted on land owned by the charity so they will be protected winter after winter. As it matures, this new woodland will provide new homes for hundreds of much-loved countryside creatures, that might otherwise struggle to survive harsh winter conditions. Planting trees today, will ensure we can continue to experience the wonder of nature for many Christmases to come.
