We will support the education of 100 marginalised and vulnerable students in Guinea, including 50 girls to ensure they complete their education. We will help fund the extra costs of taking their exams in English in Sierra Leone, including accommodation, food and medical costs while away from home.

Young people in the English speaking refugee communities are particularly vulnerable to rising costs of living. Their families find it difficult to access well paid jobs which often go to family and friends of those in charge. They want to retain their English skills by attending an English speaking school, as this can be a route into better jobs. Our partner school teaches in English and gives them access to science and IT education but the most vulnerable cannot afford the fees.

We will award 100 scholarships to vulnerable students at our partner school where they will get the access to practical science and IT education. Half of these scholarships will go to girls, whose families often withdraw them from school to educate their male siblings where money for fees is tight. We will pay for revision classes in exam grades to ensure that students maximise their attainment and gain the skills to enable them to access jobs in new sectors where patronage has less hold.
