30 by 30 is an international commitment to restoring 30% of land, waters and seas by 2030. Yorkshire is the UK’s largest county, and we have a responsibility to be leaders in the fight to protect nature. Almost two-thirds of all British species can be found in Yorkshire, and our county is a stronghold for nearly 3,000 species at risk of extinction. Data shows that if we can meet 30 by 30 targets, huge gains would be made in slowing down, even reversing, biodiversity decline.
Yorkshire Wildlife Trust are sector-leaders in conservation, delivering impactful results for wildlife suffering the negative effects of climate breakdown, invasive species, pollution and habitat loss across this iconic and beloved region of the UK. In raising funds to support our 30 by 30 goals, we will be able to target areas most in need of recovery, seeking to reinforce Sites of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) in our care to strengthen their resilience in the wake of an uncertain climate.
