Ovarian cancer remains lethal for women. Each year in the UK, over 7,500 are diagnosed and more than 4,000 lose their lives. Preventing ovarian cancer would be the greatest gift you could give to the next generation, and we are the closest we’ve ever been to stopping the disease before it starts.

Ovarian cancer still takes too many lives. Survival rates are where breast cancer survival rates were in the 1970’s - because diagnosis is too late, treatment options are limited, and the cancer often returns. The best way to save lives is to stop it before it starts. We can already prevent up to 20% of ovarian cancer cases by identifying women at high risk, avoiding thousands of deaths. With more research, we can go further and in the future stop ovarian cancer before it starts for all women.
As the leading ovarian cancer research charity, we want to stop ovarian cancer before it starts. Each year 1,500 women with an inherited genetic risk are diagnosed. By helping women understand their risk, we can support them to take action to stop a future diagnosis. With research, we could make a preventative vaccine, OvarianVax, a reality for all women - just as the HPV vaccine has stopped cervical cancer. This future relies on funding research and reaching women with the resources they need.
