Many people seeking asylum are refused despite having strong protection needs, trauma histories or new evidence that has not yet been properly considered. Without specialist advice, they may be left destitute, unable to work, at risk of homelessness and without a safe route to put forward a Further Submission. The asylum system is complex, and the people who most need help are often least able to access it.

Asylum Link Merseyside will fund dedicated casework time to support people with potential Further Submissions. A trained caseworker employed for 2 days per week will help people understand their options, gather evidence, prepare referrals, liaise with solicitors and access practical support while their case is progressed. This gives people a fairer chance to be heard and reduces the risk of destitution and crisis.
