Farm Africa works with smallholder farmers in eastern Africa to unlock the transformative potential of sustainable agriculture. Investing in women is central to our work. When women prosper, they invest in their families’ futures, bringing long-term change for their children and generations to come.

In Africa, 62% of women are involved in farming. They are the backbone of Africa’s agricultural workforce. But life for women isn’t easy. Often balancing intensive farm work, childcare and domestic duties, farming mothers work tirelessly to build a better future for their children. But climate change is making farming harder than ever. Extreme weather and unpredictable rains threaten every harvest. And each failed harvest means less money to put food on the table and keep children in school.
We believe sustainable farming is the answer. With Farm Africa’s support, women can learn ways to restore their land, grow more food, and earn a reliable income. We also help mothers learn about nutrition, so they can give their children the healthiest start in life. Better harvests and more reliable incomes mean mothers can send their children to school, access healthcare and confidently plan ahead, rather than simply surviving from one harvest to the next.
