Many disabled young people are missing out on the life changing benefits of community sport. We train, equip and support community clubs to deliver regular inclusive sport opportunities, so more disabled young people can benefit from improved health and well-being,and feel a sense of belonging.

Beneficiaries
Too many disabled young people remain excluded from sport through no fault of their own. Families tell us there are not enough accessible, inclusive opportunities for their children. Only 3% of disabled young people meet the Chief Medical Officers’ recommendation of 60 minutes of daily activity. Disabled young people are twice as likely to be inactive as non-disabled, having a significant impact on long term health. Many clubs lack the knowledge and confidence to include disabled participants
We will support community sports clubs, coaches and volunteers to provide inclusive sport and physical activity, unleashing their potential to change the lives of disabled young people in their local communities. Targeting some of the most deprived areas, local clubs will benefit from intensive expert support from Access Sport, to develop free/low-cost regular sports opportunities. Our inclusion training will equip coaches/volunteers with the knowledge and confidence to create welcoming spaces.
