In northern Uganda, girls who leave school due to poverty, pregnancy or child marriage have few opportunities to build independent futures. Although vocational training equips them with valuable skills, many cannot secure employment or start businesses because they lack experience, confidence and access to markets. Without opportunities to apply their skills, they remain vulnerable to poverty, exploitation and long-term dependence.
Building on the success of the Bonga programme, which equips out-of-school girls with vocational, business and life skills, this Big Give campaign will establish the Bonga Vocational and Enterprise Centre. Bonga graduates will gain supported work experience, strengthen their vocational skills, build confidence and earn an income. By bridging the gap between training and employment, we will help more girls build sustainable livelihoods, achieve financial independence and break the poverty cycle.
