In Afghanistan, a mother dies every hour from preventable childbirth complications. Funding for critical care provision, emergency transport, and essential equipment will save the lives of vulnerable women and babies in some of the country's most neglected regions. Can you help us, to help them?

Afghanistan is one of the world's most dangerous places to become pregnant, with the UN reporting that a mother dies every hour from preventable pregnancy and childbirth complications. In remote areas, women lack skilled maternity care, emergency transport and essential supplies. With few reproductive rights, many marry and become mothers young, without the knowledge or resources to advocate for themselves or their unborn babies.

Founded in 1984, HealthProm has worked in Afghanistan since 2008, using a proven community-based maternal health model. Funding will provide emergency transport, safe birthing kits, antenatal and postnatal care, education on pregnancy and newborn care and training for Community Health Workers. Rather than relying on clinics, we bring healthcare directly into villages while strengthening local health systems so communities can protect mothers and babies well beyond project end.
