Outcry seeks support for a major recording project devoted to the music by Stephen Dodgson. The repertoire will include his Symphony No 2, Concerto for Flute and Harp, Trombone Concerto and String Divertimento, and will follow on from a very successful 1st CD recording in 2026.

Stephen Dodgson occupies a distinctive place in British musical life. A prolific composer and long-standing professor at the Royal College of Music, he was much admired by performers for his craftsmanship, clarity of style and idiomatic writing. Despite this, much of his orchestral output remains unavailable on record, limiting its reach and performance life.

Outcry started this project in 2026 with a recording of Symphony No 1, Concertos for Bassoon and Clarinet and his String Idyll. This 1st CD, produced by John Rutter, is due for release on the Naxos label early 2027. By recording his previously unrecorded works, Outcry is ensuring their long-term preservation by making them accessible to performers, scholars, students and audiences worldwide. Running this campaign alongside the release of the 1st CD will enable us to maximise exposure for both.
