Each will provide early intervention, disability aids, therapies and educational support: life-changing help for children whose needs are not currently met.

According to UNESCO’s State of Education Report for India 2019: Children with Disabilities - 75% of 5‑year‑olds with disabilities in India are not in school, and 27% aged 5–19 have never been to school. Barriers include late diagnoses, lack of teacher training, lack of learning aids and accessible infrastructure, stigma and assumption disabled children will not benefit from schooling, plus need to afford transport, therapy, assistive devices, or assessments
Two new school-based satellite centres, each staffed by a Special Educator and Health Worker will be set up. Core services will include developmental screening and assessment, special education support, help with accessing disability aids, community awareness work, referral support for advanced assessment and scheduled visits by specialists, parent counselling and help for families on accessing government benefits, plus teacher training and equipping classrooms with inclusive resources.
