Christmas can be one of the most challenging times of year for people experiencing loneliness, economic hardship, or social exclusion. As the cost of living continues to deepen inequality, demand for local food banks and community support is growing, disproportionately affecting older people, disabled people, low-income families and those without nearby support networks. Wandsworth Foodbank in 2026 reported a sharp 108% rise in emergency parcels provided, compared with 2019 pre-pandemic levels.
BAC will deliver a free-to-attend Community Christmas Day, welcoming Wandsworth residents for hot meals, festive entertainment and creative activities in the Grand Hall, a warm space within BAC’s heritage building. Working with local charities and community partners, we will remove barriers to access by providing transport to support those most at risk of isolation and financial hardship. This warm and inclusive space will foster meaningful connections, civic pride, and social cohesion.
