Lewisham is one of the most deprived boroughs in the UK with one of the lowest education attainment records. There are few free or subsidised positive activities for children to mitigate socioeconomic disadvantage; proven to lead to disenfranchisement, lack of social and employable skills and further (more serious) problems such as gangs and illegal activity. There is a lack of positive role models, safe creative spaces and access to the life skills taught through the performing arts.

MTA has over 27 years of experience working with children, including the most disadvantaged and those with SEND. They will now have a productive, supervised activity where they will be stretched creatively (singing, dancing, acting). By the end of each course, they'll have performed in front of friends and family - giving a real sense of achievement. Through discovering the performing arts they will grow in self confidence.
