Betel UK is a Christian charity dedicated to helping men, women and families facing social exclusion impacted by homelessness, drug and alcohol abuse, and long-term unemployment. Of those entering our houses in the last year, 65% were drug dependent, 34% alcohol, and 54% homeless. Betel in Hexham, Northumberland currently houses 22 men and women who are trying to rebuild their lives.

We offer people aged over 18 a free place to stay within a supportive environment whilst they break their addictions. There is no strict programme, the emphasis is on making daily choices that aspire to a healthier lifestyle, supported and supervised by community leaders living on-site. Residents can be of any faith or none, it is not a requirement for entry into Betel. Once they are ready, residents work in our charitable businesses to help fund their recovery, and learn useful skills.
