When children with additional needs reach the age of 18, they lose many of the services and support networks around them, yet they still require support. Adult social care generally consists of day centres where there is little choice and the activities aren't always built around their needs or interests. At Creating Adventures, we have a vibrant programme of activities and opportunities that the adults choose to join. We need a home to grow into and support more adults with additional needs.
We currently have 110 members and are receiving referrals weekly but we don't currently have the capacity in our current base to grow. We are based within a council community centre which is also the local driving test centre. We have been told that the test centre are doubling their capacity which means less parking spaces and more 'strangers' coming into the centre which is a safeguarding issue. We are also growing our team and have no space to develop the team or charity.
