Our in‑patient ward at Pembury has served our community for many years but it is now in need of significant modernisation. Some parts have remained unchanged since we opened in 1998. The layout, infrastructure and facilities no longer meet the standards people deserve at the end of life; the best care needs the best spaces and environment. We have completed most of the work and are now seeking funding to help complete the final stages of this important project to transform our in-patient ward.
We are transforming the Pembury in-patient ward to create a calm, modern, uplifting environment that meets the needs of patients, families, and those providing care, both now and in the future. The design is based on bringing the light in and reflecting nature, enhancing overall wellbeing. This is part of our Shaping our Future project which began in late 2025. The ward has been closed during the works and will re-open when the transformation is complete in early 2027.
