Impact areas
Firstly, people with learning disabilities suffer from social isolation, difficulty acquiring new skills & building confidence. Their wellbeing suffers from not being able to spend time outdoors, socialising & learning new things. Secondly, women are under-represented in conservation, & some feel more able to contribute in women-only sessions. Thirdly, Epping Forest, its trees & biodiversity are suffering due to increased pollution, climate change & adjacent development.
We will run 20 conservation sessions - 10 for people with learning disabilities, & 10 women-only sessions. This will enable 10 people with learning disabilities, & an estimated 75 women, to access nature, take part in physical exercise, socialise, learn new skills, improve their mental health & wellbeing &empowering them to build confidence and take meaningful action in conserving the Forest The hands-on conservation activities will improve the biodiversity of key areas of Epping Forest.
