Akshaya Patra, meaning an ‘inexhaustible pot’, serves fresh, nutritious meals to children in UK schools and at holiday clubs, tackling hunger and malnutrition. Through our after-school and holiday programmes, we’ve provided over 900,000 meals to disadvantaged children.

In the UK, 4.5 million children face poverty and food insecurity, affecting their health, wellbeing, and ability to learn. Akshaya Patra responds through our Empower Hour and Halting Holiday Hunger Programme, which combines after-school meals with learning support, and nutritious meals during school breaks, respectively, helping children stay nourished, focused, and ready to thrive all year round.
Akshaya Patra's mission is to ensure no child is deprived of an education due to hunger. We cook to serve nutritious meals to children from low-income families, at places of education. With 900,000 meals served so far, and counting, our vegetarian meals are cooked with 'surplus' compassion. The food travels in steel containers to support the planet and we are committed and prepared to reach as many children at risk of hunger in London, with a plate of fresh and tasty hot food.
