Cerebral palsy (CP) is the most common cause of childhood disability, effecting 1 in 400 babies. Children with CP may also have a range of physical and cognitive impairments such as being unable to walk, being unable to talk and experience regular pain due to the severity of their condition. At least 2 out of 3 children with CP also have movement difficulties in one or both arms which impacts upon every day activities such as eating, dressing and throwing or catching a ball with friends.
Stick ‘n’ Step offers life-changing support to children and young people with cerebral palsy by offering specialist Conductive Education (CE) sessions. CE looks at the whole child; delivering activities aimed at improving motor skills as well as supporting social & emotional development. Children work towards realistic, personalised goals to become more mobile and learn key life skills: dressing/undressing, self-feeding, transferring from a wheelchair to a chair or sofa and even using a pen.
