In 2023, the Department for Communities reported that 16% of households within the Derry City and Strabane District Council area are in poverty, with a further 10% at risk of poverty. Many local households are experiencing increasing financial pressure due to rising living costs, insecure work, and limited access to fair financial support. Many people are surviving on incomes that do not meet their basic needs, leaving them vulnerable to debt, food insecurity, and crisis.

We provide those struggling financially, with practical help of food, financial guidance and wellbeing support. We provide emergency food, Christmas essentials, warmth and household support. We work closely with a trusted referral network of 160 local Health, community and government organisations to identify families and people most in need. We will respond quickly, so that households facing poverty, hunger and crisis are supported with dignity through Christmas and into the winter months.
