London’s Green Belt is currently facing multiple threats including commercial development and biodiversity loss. In cities where Green Belts are well-protected and maintained, they contribute significantly to carbon capture, urban cooling, flood reduction, public health and wellbeing, improved air and water quality, connected wildlife habitat, and also help protect against urban sprawl. We believe London can do this too!
CPRE London is a leading environmental charity working to create a more climate resilient and nature rich city. We will significantly improve the natural richness and connectivity of London’s Green Belt through practical tree planting and cultivation projects. We also provide planning advice and support to community groups so they can protect their local Green Belt and green spaces from development and commercialisation.
