Breadwinners supports young refugees and asylum seekers into their first UK job through paid work on our market stalls selling bread, alongside training and mentoring. We tackle barriers like lack of experience, networks and confidence, helping young people build skills and progress into work.

Young refugees and people seeking asylum face huge barriers to building their futures in the UK. Many spend years unable to work or access education, living on just £7.02 a day. This leads to lost confidence, poor mental health and isolation. When they receive refugee status, they are expected to quickly find work or study without UK experience, skills or networks. As a result, 70% of refugees in the UK are unemployed, despite their talent and potential.

Breadwinners is not your typical charity: we transform lives through selling bread! We are a grassroots charity and social enterprise driven to create a community where refugees can thrive in the UK. We do so by delivering three employability programmes for young refugees and people seeking asylum which equip them with work experience on our market stalls and in our head office, as well as training, mentoring, and a supportive community - key ingredients to enable them to pursue their dreams!
