We are on a mission to transform the lives of up to 90 young people a year facing challenging circumstances in Bristol, giving them the support, skills and confidence they need to get into work (or re-enter education) and begin to build a future filled with hope.

We are addressing the problem of youth poverty and unemployment in Britain. With 12.5% of all people aged 16 to 24 years old not in education, employment or training (NEET) and a growing mental health pandemic, we want to take action. Our goal is to unlock the potential and talents of young individuals, providing them with the necessary support and opportunities to thrive in the workplace or pursue education. By empowering these young people, we aim to create a brighter future in Bristol.
Spear is a coaching intervention for young people in need. We run the Spear Bristol Foundation Programme, a six-week course delivered by skilled coaches to help 16-24 year olds get ready for work or education. It builds confidence, purpose, and routine, while offering community, job application skills, and interview training. After the course, we provide 12 months of follow-up support to help trainees find work and thrive in their roles.
