Supporting mental wellbeing through early intervention and creating a healthy, inclusive environment for young people who are students at the Duchess's Community High School and living in rural North Northumberland.

In a recent survey, more than half of students in our school community say they need help with stress, anxiety or both. Less than a quarter say they are 'doing OK' or don't need any wellbeing support. 80% worry about the wellbeing of their friends and peers. Nationally, more than one million children (1 in 10) were referred to mental health services last year. In rural Northumberland, limited access to support means too many young people reach crisis before receiving or asking for help.
BOOST fills a vital gap by bringing inclusive wellbeing support directly to students in school, removing barriers created by rural isolation and transport and ensuring access for all. Early intervention and preventative programmes build confidence, strengthen resilience, encourage positive decision-making, foster peer support and celebrate diversity. Together with our partners, we are creating a healthier, more connected school community where every young person can thrive.
