The Denis Hurley Centre is the only source of free healthcare for refugees in Durban SA since illegal blockades of hospitals started in July 2025. Our medicine bill is SIX TIMES higher than in previous years. We really need to raise funds to provide medicines to keep patients healthy and alive.

We believe life-saving medication should be available to all in need, regardless of nationality. But illegal xenophobic blockades of Government hospitals have prevented access by foreign nationals (many of them legally recognised as refugees or residents). While continuing to lobby government, the DHC remains the only source of free healthcare for tens of thousands of our foreign brothers and sisters in Durban. We need to buy medicines for primary healthcare, chronic conditions, HIV and TB.
The Denis Hurley Association (DHA) want to raise as much as possible so the valuable work of the interfaith Denis Hurley Centre (DHC) can continue in supporting marginalised people in Durban. The DHC receives no financial support from the South African Government and raises 3/4 of its funds from individuals, faith communities and businesses in Durban. Monies raised will go directly towards supporting the medicine costs of the DHC clinic which has been providing healthcare for 12 years.
