People affected by cancer in our community face financial hardship, poor mental wellbeing and social isolation during and after treatment. Many struggle to afford nutritious food and essentials due to reduced income and rising costs. Limited access to culturally sensitive support, low cancer awareness, and a lack of opportunities to connect with others who share similar experiences can leave people feeling isolated and unsupported, negatively affecting their wellbeing and recovery.
We will address these challenges by providing practical, emotional and community support for people affected by cancer. We will provide food packages to reduce financial pressure, peer support groups to tackle isolation, wellbeing activities to improve mental health, and one-to-one support to access services. Cancer awareness sessions will increase knowledge, while community events will strengthen connections, celebrate patients, survivors and carers, and help people feel valued and supported.
