Around 100,000 people experience a stroke every year in the UK, and an estimated 1.4 million people are living with its long-term effects. A stroke can change a life in an instant, affecting communication, memory, concentration and confidence. For many survivors, these hidden challenges make it difficult to reconnect with family, friends and the world around them. Recovery is about more than physical rehabilitation. It's about helping people rediscover their voice and rebuild their confidence.

We're helping stroke recovery, one story at a time. Our trained professional actors deliver one-to-one reading sessions on stroke wards across the UK, using stories to stimulate conversation, improve communication and bring moments of connection during the early stages of recovery. Speech therapists report that patients engage better with their sessions, following a visit from one of our actors. Last year, we supported more than 3,900 stroke survivors. With your support, we can reach even more.
