The UK’s information ecosystem is fuelling division around race. Declining local media, under-resourced newsrooms and the spread of misinformation have eroded trust and amplified polarising narratives. Many communities, especially migrants, are excluded or misrepresented, leaving harmful gaps that increase misunderstanding, tension and social fragmentation

We will equip UK newsrooms with tools, training and data to engage diverse communities and report on race responsibly. By supporting community-led storytelling, fostering dialogue across groups and countering misinformation, we will rebuild trust, improve representation and strengthen more inclusive local information ecosystems.
