Waterperry Opera Festival addresses a lack of music education by immersing children and young adults in the worlds of opera and classical music. Interactive workshops don't just introduce them to the art form but empower them to create it, promoting confidence, mental health, and social development.

Nationwide funding constraints are severely eroding opportunities for young people to experience live, high-quality classical music which is leading to a decline in audience numbers. We are expanding our initiatives to reverse this trend by immersing children and young adults in the worlds of opera and classical music. By fostering active musical participation, this programme directly supports youth confidence, mental well-being, and social development.
Building on our existing annual programme, we will engage schools, libraries, and community groups with our artistic work, culminating in experiencing a professional performance at the Waterperry Opera Festival summer season 2027. Professional music facilitators will lead workshops in these educational settings, guiding children to learn songs and share music directly inspired by the opera's themes, bridging the gap between education and the stage.
