We’re a youth development & outdoor learning charity that supports young people living with disadvantage, by changing their lives at sea. Since we first set sail in 1956, over 125,000 young people have sailed two million nautical miles with us, gaining confidence, resilience & practical life-skills.

Young people across the UK face challenges that feel overwhelming, from mental health pressures & poverty to neurodiversity & social isolation. A lack of opportunity is leaving an entire generation feeling anxious & defined by their circumstances. The recent Milburn Review revealed a deeply concerning reality: nearly one million young people in the UK are currently out of education, employment, or training. Yet 84% of them want to work or study – they simply haven’t been given the opportunity.

Our five 72ft Challenger yachts provide a unique learning environment that empower young people to step outside their comfort zone; on the water they learn to lead, communicate & believe in themselves. Developing vital life skills that help them as they journey into adulthood. For some, this may be into maritime or blue economy careers, including with TSYT. Last year we took 1224 young people to sea, 85% were living with disadvantage, 43% were young women & 21% belonged to the global community.
