More families than ever are facing financial challenges and 45% of parents/carers say they can’t afford family outings outside of school. Meanwhile, school budget pressures are resulting in arts cuts and 68% of schools in disadvantaged areas are reducing school trips. Too many children living in challenging circumstances are missing out on the lasting benefits of arts engagement – building confidence, improving wellbeing, nurturing creativity, and strengthening literacy and communication skills.

Since opening our doors in 1979, Polka has placed children at the heart of everything we do. With your support, we will remove barriers and give thousands of children the chance to see our theatre shows for free; take part in creative workshops at Polka; benefit from long-term arts programmes in their schools; participate in drama activities whilst in hospital; join free community events; and much more.
