While the Health Service are excellent at the physical treatment of cancer, dealing with the psychological and emotional scars, both for the patient and their carers, is an unmet need. Post-treatment is when patients are expected to 'get back to normal', but for many, normal will never be the same again. The shock of the diagnosis and treatment wears off, and the reality sets in. It can be a time when people feel isolated and alone, as highlighted by HRH The Princess of Wales in 2025.
Our three-day residential therapeutic breaks provide a safe, nurturing environment, free of charge, where people affected, directly or indirectly, by cancer can access emotional, psychological, and practical support to improve their well-being and resilience at a time, post-treatment, when many feel isolated and alone. The breaks include mindfulness sessions, relaxation, and mediation, plus group and one-to-one sessions to help develop coping strategies to achieve a new normal.
