Across the UK, increasing numbers of huskies, malamutes and other northern breeds are being abandoned, surrendered or left in council pounds. Rising living costs, post-pandemic pressures and a lack of breed understanding have created a growing welfare crisis! Many dogs arrive frightened, neglected and in need or urgent veterinary care and rehabilitation. Without 8 Below Husky Rescue, hundreds of dogs each year would have nowhere to turn and little hope of a safe, loving future.

We will help tackle this crisis by rescuing vulnerable northern breed dogs, providing essential veterinary care, rehabilitation and safe kennel spaces and foster homes, before carefully matching dogs with their forever home. Through specialist breed knowledge, dedicated volunteers and lifelong rescue support, we give dogs in our care stability and a second change they desperately need while helping reduce the number of northern breeds at risk across the UK
