Beneficiaries
This region is one of the most remote areas of Nepal, with incomplete roads, often blocked in winter, access is challenging. The local health teams have budgets for medicine, however they are struggling due to lack of staff and difficult transportation. Women do not have access to basic antenatal care during pregnancy or a safe place to deliver their baby. Malnourished children are not being identified and treated. Patients over an hours walk from a health post aren't able to access care.
Working alongside local gov health staff our Auxiliary Nurses Midwives have access to extra resources and information. Increased resources allows for community outreach work and extra capacity e.g. over 11,000 growth monitoring sessions, treating around 20 cases of malnutrition, delivering around 80 babies with skilled health professionals present, responding to around 20 emergency situations per year. Around 12,000 attendees at health education events - making sustainable change.
